For
this project, I was tasked with putting together a look for a character who exists solely inside a computer world. The reference photos I was given, as shown below were Japanese 60s mod. As the time period for the film is ambiguous, we added our own spin to the inspiration! For the hair, Adelina and I agreed on using a pink wig, with bangs that had extra wefts near the rear of the head, to match the high heels. As we were on a time crunch, we decided to portion the majority of our time on makeup. As a result, I trimmed the wig to fit their face shape, cut a few layers to give the curls more bounce, and smoothed out the wig with hairspray. For the makeup, I suggested teal eyeshadow to match the tights and a nude lipstick reminiscent of that era. As Adelina’s face was the focal point in filming, I added an orange scarf, sourced from my closet, to balance out the bright wig. I brought focus back to the eyes by putting false eyelash clusters on the top + bottom lids , drew dark eyeliner near the waterlines, and drew white eyeliner on the waterline. The Gogo Jewelry cuffs The dress was found about a year prior at a thrift store and when discussing cotumes with Adelina, I thought this was a strong option! Overall, I am proud of this look we put together with the limitations of our college student budget of ~$50!
